Testify

Monday, December 1, 2025 is your opportunity to tell the DC Zoning Commission why you support more housing at our shops and Metro in Cleveland Park and Woodley Park!

Let us know if you have any interest in testifying (no commitment)

Oral Testimony

Testifying live couldn’t be easier! Zoning commission meetings are held virtually so you don’t have to leave home. Testifying live has the most impact. If you are a couple, sign up and testify separately. Encourage your friends to sign up to testify.

The hearing starts at 4pm on Monday December 1st, although testimony on this case is not likely to start until after work hours and will run into the evening. Just fill out the witness sign-up form by Friday, November 28th at https://app.dcoz.dc.gov/Home/Kiosk. In addition to your name and contact information you need to make the following selections highlighted in yellow in the screenshot below: Select a Type: Zoning Commission; Select an Event: 12/01/2025 – ZC Hearing; Select a Case: 25-09; Testimony Type: Proponent; Affiliation: Public Witness.

As a public witness, you get 3 minutes to speak. Writing and submitting your public testimony in advance is recommended. A common rule of thumb is to aim for about 130 to 150 words per minute for the spoken version, so look to keep your comments to 400 words or less. Speak from your own point of view why adding more housing at our commercial centers makes sense. We will be holding a testimony training session on Sunday November 16th from 3-4:30 at the Cleveland Park Library Lower Level meeting room to help folks write their testimony. We are happy to help so if you have any questions, please reach out at cpsmartgrowth@gmail.com.

Written Testimony

Whether you plan on testifying in person or not, everyone is encouraged to send written comments to the Zoning Commission, which is as easy as sending an email. There is more flexibility in how much you can write in written testimony.

Follow these rules when submitting written testimony:

  1. Include your name, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address in the body of the email;
  2. Indicate your comments are a “Letter in Support”;
  3. Include the case number and case name in the subject line of the e-mail (ZC 25-09 “Text & Map Amendments creating new Neighborhood Mixed Use Zones for Cleveland Park & Woodley Park”);
  4. Send the email to: zcsubmissions@dc.gov
  5. Let us know you sent comments by bcc’ing us: cpsmartgrowth@gmail.com
